Ok so I have no idea why The Lord blessed me with two children in the same month. As many of you know and for those who don't September is a full and busy month, My dad, one of my sisters, and 2 neices have Sept. B-days and that is just my side. John has a brother and his dad's birthday in Sept. NOW On September 18, 2002 Chase was born, then 4 years later Spencer arrived on Sept. 13th. WHY??? I have no idea. BUT hey what are ya gonna do huh?
We make a big deal out of birthdays and despite the large amount of sugar that flows through my house in Sept. each boy gets his own cake and, oh and cupcakes for school. Well this year my Sept. was a little more busy than usual. We traveled the first 2 weekends in Sept. for the best experiences ever. Then Grandpa Nuttall and Nana Laurienne came to visit the third week. We celebrated all three boys birthdays while Grandpa was in town so Spencer really didn't get his own cake. He is too young to know the difference right?? Well out of shear exhaustion I decided to save half of Spencers cake, (I put it in the fridge), and serve it up again on Chase's birthday 5 days later. I made sure Chase's name was still visible. Chase could care less.
Ok so Chase's big day rolls around and here is where the story gets good. After a late Sunday dinner and presents, it was time for mom to take a much needed nap. It was a good one too. I was awakened a couple hours later to three little angelic faces."mom is is time for cake now" "get up mom we want cake!!!"
As I am waking up; Stinky Pete comes running in and yells "UMMM GUYS........ UMM I HAD A LITTLE ACCIDENT......THE CAKE FELL...... ON THE GROUND.... OH AND ONE OF THE DOGS PEED IN THE KITCHEN....." Chase asks "Did the dog pee get on the cake?" Spencer says "no but it is running down and hurry it is almost to the cake. "
I am thinking WHAT? am I dreaming? So naturally I got up to go see. Oh yeah sure enough right in the middle of the kitchen floor is the cake frosting side down on the floor and the dog pee not far away. I can hear John in the distance laughing hysterically!!!
Cake Down = one sad boy on his birthday. He cried for almost an hour. I tried everything. I hadn't made the cupcakes for school yet so I offered to make that and frost it so he could have cake in about an hour. He informed me that my cakes don't taste as good as the ones from the store. So we agreed to have his cake on Mon. night. SO Monday after school I dragged my yucky cake making self to the store and bought him a new cake, it was small but it was better than mine.
Lesson learned: Don't leave the birthday cake where Stinky Pete can reach it, always have a camera handy to get the perfect shot of "cake down" and.... oh learn how to make the best cake ever by next year!!!
