 What is the " Peace on Earth" that Christ brought?

After the angel announced the birth of Jesus to the shepherds, a whole host of angels appeared and declared " Glory to God, in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill to men." (John 2:14)

How did the birth of Christ bring peace? Jesus died that we could live eternally, and that message brings us peace. Isaiah said "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5)

Jesus was the Prince of Peace because he overcame sin and death. "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulders, and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God the Everlasting Father the Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:5)

Jesus himself promised to give us peace in our hearts when he said "Peace I leave with you,my peace I give unto you." (John 14: 27)

It is your job to keep that peaceful feeling in your heart all year round. You can do that because Jesus promised to send his Holy Spirit to give you peace. May your heart be filled with peace all year.
