When did Christians start putting lights on Christmas Trees?
In the 1500's a man named Martin Luther was walking home in the evening after a fresh fallen snow storm and as he walked by a patch of evergreen trees he noticed how much the moonlight reflecting on the snowy needles sparkled and shined like lights. He paused to reflect on this peaceful scene and was reminded of the bright star in the Heavens that shined down on the birth of Jesus. The most precious gift of all time. He wanted his family to experience this beautiful light too so he brought home a fir tree and placed small candles on its branches. He told his Children how the candles represent the bright stars in the Heavens shining on the Saviors birth. As his children gazed into the lights on that beautiful tree they too were filled with wonderment and joy at the creation of God and his gift to the world on that first Christmas night. " I am the light of the world; He that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" ( John 8:2). We made a Rebus story about a little girl who served others like Jesus did.
